Message from Gretchen Fitzgerald, Sierra Club Atlantic

Hello there,

Please join us this Oceans Day, Saturday, June 8th, to celebrate the Gulf of St. Lawrence!

This Oceans’ Day, we invite you to celebrate with us the treasure that is the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Home for the endangered blue whale, summer feeding habitat for bluefin tuna and sea turtles, and the site of some of Canada’s most iconic beaches and seascapes, the Gulf is now under the threat by oil ad gas development.

Let’s come together and show gratitude for the abundance and beauty of our Gulf!

This Oceans Day, we are launching a Gulf-wide initiative to raise awareness of the Gulf as a single, shared ecosystem by creating a Gulf Garland, made up of links contributed by people who live all around her shores! We will bring material to help you make your link in the chain – you just need to bring your stories, memories, and creativity to add your link to the Garland!

WHERE: Malignant Cove Beach, near Antigonish, NS (map: http://bit.ly/11eVsIJ)

11:00 am – 12:00 noon – Songs by The Wandering Menstruals + Sharing the gifts the Gulf brings us!

12:00 – 2:00 pm – Picnic on the Beach.

Please check in at our Facebook event to keep up-to-date on this event: https://www.facebook.com/events/135295649999018/

If you can’t join us in person, please consider of hosting your own Gulf Garland event on June 8th – we need a strong show of support to make this campaign a success! Feel free to contact Sierra Club Atlantic (902-444-3113) for support and details.
